Hyaluronic acid filler

Wrinkle treatment & volume build-up

Hyaluron or hyaluronic acid is injected in aesthetic medicine as a filler to build up volume and improve the elasticity of the skin. Hyaluronic acid injections can be used to treat facial wrinkles and compensate for a lack of volume. Hyaluronic acid has proven to be very effective as it is available in different solid consistencies.

Wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic filler

Like collagen, hyaluronic acid is an essential component of connective tissue. Dr. Dr. Muggenthaler only uses synthetically produced hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin, which has an extremely low risk of infection and allergies. We will advise you in detail on which type of wrinkle treatment will give you the best results.

Before and after

In Germany, it is not permitted to show before and after pictures of medical treatments. We are therefore unable to present any before and after pictures of our treatments here. If you are interested in before and after pictures, please contact us. We will show you some examples and will be happy to explain the prospects of success and the potential effect of the corresponding treatment in your specific case during a non-binding consultation.

Patient voices

The treatment

At the beginning of a filler treatment, Dr. Muggenthaler analyzes your face. In addition to wrinkles, the underlying facial expressions and the general proportions of the face are decisive for a natural facial expression. As all mimic muscles of the face are indirectly connected to each other, a weakening in one area very often has an effect on distant areas of the face. We take this into account during the in-depth analysis and discuss your wishes and the available options with you.

Different fillers for different areas

Non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid, which is applied superficially, is used to refresh large areas of facial skin. Fine wrinkles can be evened out with thin, cross-linked hyaluronic acid in a small particle size. Deeper wrinkles are treated with more cross-linked hyaluronic acid, with different particle sizes available to achieve an even longer shelf life. Preparations with a very large particle size are available for building up the cheek and chin profile, which plump up from the depths and model the facial profile. A special hyaluronic acid is suitable for lip contouring, in which the individual particles are rounded and should therefore adapt better to the curves of the lip. A wide range of products is now available.

We only use synthetically produced fillers of non-animal origin, which have an extremely low risk of infection and allergies.

Frequently asked questions about wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers

Into which layer of the skin is the hyaluronic acid injected?

Depending on the indication and nature of the filler, directly into the epidermis (low-viscosity fillers such as TouchTM or VitalTM). Into the layer between the epidermis and dermis or even over the periosteum. Fillers are placed in all layers of the skin, depending on the indication and consistency.

Which products are used?

At MUGGENTHALER ÄSTHETIK we rely on the proven product range of the Swiss company Galderma.

Are there any contraindications to hyaluronic acid injections?

Very rare: Hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. If an allergy is suspected, an allergy test must be carried out beforehand. Extremely rare in particularly allergic people.

Are allergic reactions possible with hyaluronic acid injections?

Allergic reactions to filler treatments with hyaluronic acid are extremely rare. For patients who already have an increased allergy potential, we recommend an allergy test in our practice first.

Is hyaluronic acid injection painful?

When the filler is injected, a moderate amount of pressure is usually felt, but this quickly subsides. As our fillers contain a mild local anesthetic, most patients find the injection well tolerated. Depending on the treatment area and sensitivity to pain, an anesthetic ointment may also be applied before treatment.

When can I expect visible results?

The results are visible immediately after the hyaluronic filler treatment. Immediately after the injection, however, the treatment areas are still slightly reddened or swollen. Small areas of hematoma or slight swelling may be visible for about 2 days, but can usually be easily concealed with make-up.

How long does the result last?

Filler treatments are temporary and last between 10 and 24 months. The exact shelf life is influenced by various factors. These include, for example, the hyaluronic acid preparation used, the treatment area, the individual metabolism and the patient’s lifestyle. In our practice, we will be happy to advise you on how you can optimally maintain the effect.

How natural is the result after hyaluronic filler injections?

Very natural results can be achieved with hyaluronic acid injections. However, it is important to know the limits of the treatment. If the face were to be built up too much through the excessive use of fillers, the result would not be youthful facial features, but rather a disfigurement. We therefore strongly advise cautious use. For harmonious results, certain limits must not be exceeded. This makes it all the more important that the practitioner has a sound knowledge of anatomy and can draw on a wealth of experience.

At MUGGENTHALER ÄSTHETIK, we work with you to create a customized treatment plan to achieve the results you desire.

Are there any side effects with hyaluronic acid injections?

Immediately after the treatment, there may be slight swelling, small areas of hematoma or redness. Visible and noticeable unevenness that does not disappear on its own may require a limited correction. In very rare cases, pronounced swelling and discoloration may persist for about two weeks. At MUGGENTHALER ÄSTHETIK you will be informed in detail about possible side effects before the treatment.

Can the result of a hyaluronic acid treatment be corrected or reversed later?

One of the main advantages of hyaluronic acid treatments is the possibility of dissolving the inserted filler with the enzyme HYALURONIDASE. All of the fillers we use can be completely dissolved within one to two hours if this is useful or desired for any reason.

Can I do sports after hyaluronic acid injections?

Not until the next day.

How effective are hyaluronic creams compared to a filler treatment?

You can’t compare. Creams only lead to increased hydration of the uppermost skin layer (horny layer), certain smoothing, wrinkles are not treated by this, if at all, only superficial wrinkles are smoothed for a while.

What does liquid lifting mean?

Liquid lifting is a concept of facial rejuvenation in which volume loss and displacement are completely compensated for by replacement with hyaluronic acid. Although it makes sense to compensate for volume loss to a certain extent, it is of course not possible to really lift sagging areas. It makes more sense to use hyaluronic acid in combination with a lift or to offer it as a supplement.
