More than 5000 plastic surgeons, dermatologists and other aesthetic professionals from all over the world attended this exciting event. For me, IMCAS was not only an ideal venue to broaden my own horizons, but also a good opportunity to pass on my knowledge to colleagues and IMCAS guests.<\/p>\n<p>In a special session on peelings, I shared my experience with the participants in a presentation entitled &#8220;Combining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muggenthaler.de\/chemisches-peeling\/\">peelings<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muggenthaler.de\/facelifting-baden-wuerttemberg\/\">facelifts<\/a>&#8220;. In particular, the great possibilities of these two methods, but also their limitations and dangers, formed the core of my presentation. At the event, I was also re-elected treasurer of the International Peeling Society, which organizes peeling specialists around the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Uliana Gout (London), Sahar Foad Ghannam (Alexandria, Egypt), Gary Monheit (Alabama, USA), Claudia Borelli (T\u00fcbingen), Frank Muggenthaler (Basel), Tatjana Pavicic (Munich), Marina Landau (Tel Aviv) missing from the picture<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Summary of my presentation on &#8220;Combining peelings with facelifts&#8221;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muggenthaler.de\/facelifting-baden-wuerttemberg\/\">facelift<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muggenthaler.de\/chemisches-peeling\/\">peel<\/a> allow for impressive results in facial rejuvenation. Each treatment has its strengths but also its limitations. If you combine the two processes, they complement each other perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What can the facelift do?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Restoration of clear, dynamic facial features<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of skin tension<\/li>\n<li>Allows facial modeling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What are the limits of a facelift?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Superficial and deep wrinkles can only be corrected to a limited extent<\/li>\n<li>The skin quality in general is not improved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>What can scrubs do?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Superficial and deep wrinkles are corrected<\/li>\n<li>Correction of pigment spots and actinic keratosis<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of skin elasticity and skin function in general<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What are the limits of peeling?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No restoration of sagging tissue in the lower half of the face and neck<\/li>\n<li>No facial modeling possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>The different peelings and their use:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Glycol peelings, enzyme peelings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Can be used well in the normal skin care program<\/li>\n<li>Improves skin quality to a limited extent<\/li>\n<li>No side effects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The limits:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No improvement in skin elasticity<\/li>\n<li>No correction of wrinkles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Application \/ combination with facelift:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Very suitable for every facelift patient<\/li>\n<li>Can be used to condition the skin before other peelings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>TCA Peelings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Corrects superficial wrinkles, actinic keratosis and pigmentation disorders<\/li>\n<li>Can be adapted to individual needs<\/li>\n<li>Minor side effects (depending on the strength, it can cause pain, edema, redness or, in rare cases, scars)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>The limits:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No improvement in skin elasticity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Application \/ combination with facelift:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Weak TCA peels (10%) of the entire face are well tolerated by all facelift patients<\/li>\n<li>Stronger concentrations (25%) can also be used in limited areas (eyelid, mouth area)<\/li>\n<li>Strong TCA peels of the entire face and facelifts should not be combined in one session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Phenol peelings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Facial wrinkles of almost any depth can be removed<\/li>\n<li>Complete renewal and rejuvenation of the facial skin<\/li>\n<li>Extremely effective in the correction of actinic keratosis and pigmentation disorders<\/li>\n<li>Renewal of elastic and collagen fibers in all skin layers<\/li>\n<li>Visible age difference of several years possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Side effects<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>More painful than TCA peels<\/li>\n<li>Long-lasting redness<\/li>\n<li>causes severe edema after treatment<\/li>\n<li>In rare cases, cardiac arrhythmia and scarring may occur<\/li>\n<li>Light and dark pigment changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Application \/ combination with facelift:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Phenol peels of limited areas (eyelid, mouth area) and weak TCA (10%) peels can be combined with facelifts.<\/li>\n<li>Increases discomfort after the operation and can prolong the healing process of the facelift.<\/li>\n<li>Long-lasting redness may occur<\/li>\n<li>Phenol peels with a full face and facelift should not be performed at the same time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.muggenthaler.de\/phenol-peeling\/\">  More about phenol peeling<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;
