17 May Phenol Peel lecture at the SSME Congress in the Tonhalle Zurich
It has been a great honor for me to be a member of the Swiss Society for Aesthetic Medicine (SSME) for many years. Western Switzerland in particular, with its famous beauty and anti-ageing clinics on the shores of Lake Geneva, as well as the Zurich region, can look back on a long tradition of aesthetic surgery and regenerative medicine. A correspondingly large number of experienced doctors from these regions took part in this year’s SSME congress. There were also some very well-known international speakers, mainly from the USA but also from European countries.
Phenol peeling for wrinkle treatment in the perioral area
In my presentation I was able to talk about my experience with phenol peelings to correct wrinkles in the mouth area. My esteemed colleague Dr. Thomas Fischer from Bern, the current President of the Swiss Society of Plastic Surgery, also spoke on this topic and we complemented each other perfectly.
I was particularly pleased to meet my longtime friend Timothy Marten from San Francisco, who talked about the finer points of lip lifting. Timothy Marten has been considered one of the best facelift surgeons in the world for many years and, like me, enjoyed a fellowship with Prof. Bruce Connell.
Other outstanding lectures were given by Dr. Kassir from New York on his treatment approach to facelifting and by my highly esteemed colleague, Mrs.. Dr. Bettina Rümmelein from Zurich, who spoke about non-invasive corrections of the body silouhette.
I would also like to mention the plastic surgeon Dr. Mustafa Narwan from Essen, who gave a particularly good presentation on his holistic concept of high-definition body contouring. He not only attaches great importance to advanced liposuction technology, but also takes into account the important aspects of optimal nutrition and general optimization of physical fitness in his treatment program. I think this approach makes a lot of sense, but I have missed this approach in most plastic surgery body contouring treatments so far.
Industry exhibition and gala evening
The industry exhibition was also remarkable. Innovative new products in the field of stimulation devices for face and body tightening were presented, as well as numerous other innovations that promise improved treatment results.
The gala evening in the ballroom of the Hotel Baur au Lac was a very special highlight. The atmosphere was not only particularly festive, but also very relaxed, almost informal. A perfect atmosphere for a stimulating exchange between colleagues.
It really doesn’t get any nicer than this. I’m really looking forward to the next SSME congress, which will probably be held in Bern.
