Especially when building up the lips, it is practical that the fillers are available in different consistencies. A firm filler shapes the lip line, a soft filler builds volume and a thin filler smoothes wrinkles. The result lasts for approx. 6 to 12 months.

Treatment procedure
The treatment
A lip correction in our practice in Basel takes 15-30 minutes. It takes place on an outpatient basis and in a sitting position. If desired, an anesthetic cream can be applied half an hour before the lip correction – making the treatment virtually pain-free. In addition, the fillers we use are given a mild painkiller so that most patients have no difficulty avoiding anesthesia.
After lip correction
Immediately after lip injections, the result looks pretty good. Your lips may be slightly swollen after the treatment. A special cream and an aloe vera cooling pad are used to reduce swelling.
If it turns out that the shape and volume are not yet perfect, it can be reworked after a few days with little effort. In general, the result of a lip correction lasts about 6 months, but deviations upwards and downwards are also possible.
Simply “spraying on lips” with inflatable boat or balloon tire results is definitely a thing of the past. In addition to the absolute volume, the right curve, the interplay of contours and the special proportions are decisive for the attractiveness of beautiful lips.

More than just “injecting lips” – the framing technique according to Dr. Muggenthaler
Beautiful lips are like the facade of a building. Especially when boldly curved shapes are to be created, it is all the more important that the scaffolding is stable and that all building materials fulfill their special function well. It requires solid beams for support, but then also lighter connecting elements and fillers for the surfaces. At Muggenthaler Ästhetik, we only use hyaluronic acid fillers from the GALDERMA product range. RESTYLANE CLASSIC in particular, which has been tried and tested for 25 years, is a filler that is very durable and safe, but also very stable. RESTYLANE CLASSIC is ideal for building up the “framework” of the lips, i.e. at the beginning of a treatment the lip red-white border is stabilized and the areas of maximum projection are highlighted.
The lip body itself is then given volume by the product RESTYLANE KYSSE, which can be molded more easily and gives a very natural feeling. Smaller vertical “pleated” wrinkles on the lips can be corrected very well with superficial injections of RESTYLANE FINE TOUCH.
To restore smoothness and suppleness to the red of the lips, we use the RESTYLANE VITAL skin booster, which is evenly distributed under the surface.

What results can be achieved with lip injections or lip correction?
The aim of lip correction is not to build up as much volume as possible, but to create a natural look. These are the correction options with fillers:

Is lip injections with fillers safe?
In our practice we use Restylane fillers from GALDERMA. Treatment with Restylane fillers is very safe and harmless. Restylane is the world’s most extensively researched and documented dermal filler based on stabilized hyaluronic acid. This means that over 30 million treatments have already been carried out with Restylane.

Is lip augmentation painful?
The products we use for lip injections contain a painkiller, so the treatment is much gentler than before. Those who wish to be almost completely pain-free are given an anesthetic cream half an hour before the treatment.
Are my lips less sensitive after the treatment?
Lip correction at MUGGENTHALER ÄSTHETIK has no effect on the sensitivity of the lips.
When is a lip correction not recommended?
If you get herpes easily, you will be given prophylaxis with acyclovir tablets before the lip correction. You will receive these from Dr. Muggenthaler three days before the treatment. Lip correction cannot be performed in the case of an acute herpes infection.
Is the result of lip injections permanent?
Dr. Muggenthaler uses hyaluronic acid fillers of the highest quality for lip correction, which are biodegradable. The results of a lip correction usually last between 6 and 12 months, occasionally up to around 18 months.
Can subsequent corrections be made?
The treated lips can be corrected very precisely at any time. Injecting or dissolving – both are possible after a lip correction.
Will I be treated personally by Dr. Muggenthaler?
Yes, of course. Dr. Muggenthaler has been performing lip corrections for decades and is extremely experienced in the treatment.
What do I need to consider after lip injections?
Immediately after lip injections, the lips are cooled for 15 minutes, so a special care cream is no longer necessary. The lips may be significantly swollen on the day of treatment and sometimes even the day after. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided during this time.
