On 10 May, I had the pleasure of taking part in Face Cologne, an interdisciplinary medical symposium. As part of the event, I gave a lecture on the topic of ‘Combining facelift and phenol peeling’. The day before, I had the honour of leading an intensive course on phenol peeling – a great opportunity to share my knowledge and delve into the depths of this special procedure together.
Face Cologne is an annual specialist congress organised by the German Society for Eyelid Surgery (DeGeLid) under the direction of Dr Aral. Originating from the successful predecessor event LidCologne, Face Cologne has developed into an interdisciplinary forum. In cooperation with the GÄCD, leading experts gathered once again this year to exchange the latest findings and discuss innovative approaches in aesthetic and functional facial surgery.
More than aesthetics: focus on skin health and safety
In my presentation, I discussed the differentiated indications for phenol peels and facelifts and highlighted their synergy potential.
Particular attention was paid to phenol peeling, which not only achieves aesthetic effects but can also significantly improve skin health – for example by eliminating actinic keratoses. The safety of the procedure also played a central role.
One exciting aspect was the combination of complete surgical lifts with isolated deep peels, for example in the eyelid or mouth area. I also presented options in which a full face peel is performed at a later date than a facelift. During the lecture, I also went into detail about the procedures and technical aspects of phenol peeling.
Professional dialogue and personal encounters
The professional dialogue with colleagues was not only enriching, but also a wonderful opportunity to make new contacts and deepen existing friendships.
I look back on this inspiring event with gratitude – and am already looking forward to the upcoming Face Cologne and to continuing to share my knowledge with colleagues and gaining new insights together.
