13 Dec Dr. Muggenthaler becomes President of the Society for Aesthetic Surgery Germany (GACD)
At the recent annual meeting of the German Society for Aesthetic Surgery (GACD ) in Cologne, I was elected President for the next two years. This is a very special honor for me, as the GACD has been a very important cornerstone of my professional activity for many years.
The GACD is a special society, as the approximately 350 members are predominantly from the specialist surgical disciplines involved in aesthetics (plastic surgery, surgery, maxillofacial surgery, derma, ENT, gynecology, ophthalmology). This ensures a valuable interdisciplinary exchange of experience, which goes hand in hand with consistent quality assurance. Both the admission criteria and the continuous quality control of the Society for Aesthetic Surgery ensure that only selected doctors can become members.
The main areas of activity of the GACD are:
- The organization of a major annual congress
- Representation of professional interests
- Public relations
- Editor of the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery (Springer-Verlag), of which I am the editor-in-chief
- the GACD Academy (where workshops within the company are co-organized and certified by the GACD)
With regard to patient well-being, I consider it of fundamental importance to exchange practical knowledge and experience in the field of aesthetic surgery and to continuously develop it further. As President, I therefore attach great importance to further training and the exchange of experts in the GACD Academy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the GACD members and the Board of Directors once again for the trust they have placed in me. Together with a great team, I look forward to carrying the positive spirit of the GACD to the outside world and further developing the strengths of this company with innovative and fresh ideas.
