Chemical peelings

Chemical peeling opens up very individual treatment options due to the variety and, above all, the different intensities. The professional application of a medical peel is the be-all and end-all of a successful treatment.

Peelings and their possibilities

From skin cleansing to complete skin renewal – peelings are able to support and optimize the physiology of the skin. Daily skin care is just as much a part of her range of services as the targeted correction of age-related changes and illnesses. The prerequisite for this is a good basic knowledge of the function of the skin and the known and proven application possibilities of the various peeling methods.

From gentle to invasive

Superficial peeling

Fruit acid peelings, which consist mainly of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), belong to the superficial peelings. The most common sources of these acids are cane sugar, milk, apples, citrus fruits and grapes. In contrast to the deeper chemical peels, a fruit acid peel only has a superficial effect on the skin. At higher concentrations and smaller molecule sizes, they also stimulate connective tissue synthesis in the depths of the epidermis.

Skin problems: Rough, blemished, dull skin
Effect: refreshes the skin, refines the appearance of the pores
Substances: Alpha hydroxy acid (glycolic acid)

Medium-depth peeling

Medium-depth chemical peels include the classic TCA peel or trichloroacetic acid peel and the so-called BluePeel according to OBAGI (based on trichloroacetic acid). Both are chemical peels that are able to smooth fine wrinkles or superficial scars, correct skin pigmentation and reduce cell damage caused by the sun. The medium-depth peeling can be ideally combined with a deep peeling.

Skin problems: Wrinkles, age-related sagging skin, acne scars
Effect: wrinkle reduction, pore refinement, skin tightening
Substances: Trichloroacetic acid, glycolic acid
Rare side effects: Redness, scars

Deep peeling

While all other peelings are limited to renewing and optimizing the surface of the skin, deep peelings or phenol peelings also stimulate tissue synthesis in the deep layers of the skin and, by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, lead to a significant rejuvenation – not only in terms of the aesthetic effect of the skin, but also in terms of its mechanical properties. The skin is completely renewed.

Skin problems: Deep wrinkles, age-related sagging skin
Effect: Complete renewal and rejuvenation of the skin
Substances: phenol, croton oil
Rare side effects: Redness, scars

The phenol peeling

Thanks to its efficiency, the phenol peeling treatment ideally fulfills the desire of many patients for an extensive rejuvenation of their appearance. The side effects and risks are significantly reduced. In rare cases, smaller or more extensive scarring may occur, which then require special treatment. Phenol peeling can achieve exceptional results that would not be possible even with a surgical facelift.

From gentle or moderate skin optimization to comprehensive skin renewal, peels offer the experienced facial surgeon an almost infinite range of application possibilities.

Creation of an individual treatment plan

It is often not possible to achieve an effective and lasting improvement in the appearance and function of the skin with a peeling application alone. In order to achieve a truly lasting effect, a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s individual situation is necessary. The starting point for this must always be a comprehensive and individual analysis of the current condition of the skin. This is the only way to develop a suitable plan to optimize the skin and ensure its long-term preservation. The measures taken to initiate skin renewal should always be decided on the basis of this in-depth analysis and treatment concept. This means that the user can also select the appropriate procedure from the various chemical peelings to suit the defined objective, or combine different peeling procedures as required.
As a rule, this results in a whole bundle of measures that come into effect in a recurring sequence and can ultimately be repeated like a cycle. The methods of dermabrasion, needling and laser treatment should also be mentioned here.
